Nazaret Ranea

Nazaret Ranea (b. 1999, Málaga) is a Spanish-born poet and writer based in Edinburgh. Her work explores themes of identity, migration, nature, memory, and the complexities of existing between worlds. In 2023, she was named one of Scotland’s Next Generation Young Makars, and in 2025, she served as Poet in Residence for StAnza Poetry Festival’s translation award.

Her debut poetry collection, Nettles, is forthcoming from Drunk Muse Press in summer 2025. She has also published the poetry zines My Men and My Women, exploring gender and identity, which are now circulating internationally. Additionally, she edited For Those Who Tend the Soil, an anthology created in collaboration with the Scottish Poetry Library. Her poems have appeared in Acumen and Poetry Scotland, and she has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe, on BBC Radio Scotland, and at the Edinburgh International Book Festival. Her fiction has been featured in Extra Teeth magazine.

Nazaret leads creative workshops that blend poetry, collage, and storytelling. She has facilitated sessions at festivals and community spaces across Scotland, focusing on connection, creativity, and the power of shared expression.
